If you are reading this article before or during your 12th class board exam, then the very first advice I would like to give you is to take your board exam very seriously and prepare for it as much as possible. As this will obviously help you to score good marks in your boards but much more than that it will help you to score better in JEE Mains. Keep this in mind that there will be very less time for you to prepare for JEE Mains after your board exams (only 1 month approx.). If you prepare nicely right now, then you will just have to revise the concepts later during the JEE Mains preparation. This will save you a lot of time which you can spend solving more MCQs or to prepare better for the topics in which you’re weak.
And if you are here after your board exams, looking for a great last moment study plan, then you are at the perfect place, because I’m going to share with you a great plan which has worked for a lot of students and might also help you to score better in your exam.

First things first, if you are thinking of studying for just 2-3 hours per day for a month(or less) and hoping for a great score and to crack JEE Mains, then I would like to wake you up from this sweet dream of yours because this is almost impossible unless you know all the concepts and formulae, in and out, at your fingertips. And also, don’t forget that the portion is very vast and it’s very difficult to complete it in such a short period of time. You have to sit and study for at least 10-12 hours (I would recommend 14-15 hours) every day to get the best possible result.

Technically speaking, the study plan and strategy will differ from student to student. We cannot say that a student should study so and so chapters in this much amount of time and only then you will be able to score good marks. For example, consider a study plan saying that you should complete mechanics in 2 days but some students might need 5 days to complete it. Which means all the students cannot follow one single plan.
There has to be a different study plans for different students. A lot of people will tell you a plan which they think is suitable for you. But the best suitable plan for you can be created by no one other than you. Because you are the only person who correctly knows how much more preparation needs to be done.
And therefore, I have not created any tabular chapter wise study plan for you. Instead, I will help you to create a good study plan for yourself on which you can totally rely on. Take out a pen and a paper and get ready (don’t worry, it will only take few minutes).
First, you will have to label all the three subjects of JEE Mains i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Maths as easy, medium and difficult. Now create 3 columns representing these subjects. After that, divide all the chapters in these subjects as easy, medium and difficult (subject wise) and place them inside the respective subject columns. Your table will look somewhat like this.

I have numbered the boxes inside the table in an increasing level of difficulty of the chapters, this is the order in which you should prepare for the JEE mains. And of course, feel free to change the numbering according to your comfort. Number the boxes in an order which is best suitable for you. But make sure that you complete all the chapters inside one box before moving to the next one.
Whether you are revising or preparing from the scratch, you can always follow this table that you have just now created. Start from the easiest chapters and keep the difficult ones for the last.
Each and every student can follow this table to its fullest and score better marks in their exams. He/she can also keep a check on the competition by applying for our JEE Mains Live Mock Test.
You can solve all the questions in the easy chapters more confidently and correctly than the ones in the difficult chapters. Also, easy chapters will take less time for preparation, so you can complete more portion in short period of time. And you will be left with a good amount of time to prepare for the rest of the chapters. On the other hand, difficult chapters take time for preparation. And also it will be difficult to solve the questions from these chapters correctly because those questions will be difficult as well.
Let’s take an example, consider easy chapters contribute 25% of entire portion, medium chapters contribute 35% and difficult chapters contribute 40%, (this numbers will vary from student to student) and you have only 2 weeks left for the preparation. It’s almost impossible to complete the entire portion in 2 weeks, so we will try to complete as much portion as possible to score the maximum marks.
If you start with difficult chapters first, most probably you will take almost 2 weeks for its preparation leaving no time to prepare for easy and medium ones. Which means you have completed only 40% of the entire portion. Out of which, there is no guarantee that you will be able to solve all the questions correctly, as the questions will be too difficult. So, you will probably score around 20-25% i.e. somewhere around 60-70 marks.
On the other hand, if you start with easy chapters first, you can finish preparing for them in few days leaving a lot of time for preparation of the medium ones. And at the end you might as well get some time to prepare for the difficult chapters. Let us only consider the easy and the medium ones which contributes 25% and 35% i.e. 60% of the entire portion. Here, you can probably solve around 35-45% questions i.e. you can possibly score around 100-120 marks in your JEE Mains exam, which is so much better than the previous situation.

It’s totally fine if you are not able to complete the entire portion. You just have to complete as much portion as you can and that too thoroughly. Do not try to complete the entire portion if you do not have enough time. You might feel overwhelmed, which will probably lead to decrease in your score. Just follow the table that you have created and complete the maximum possible portion.
First of all, start the exam with the easiest subject and solve all the questions from the topics you have prepared. Take all your time to think and solve the questions correctly. It’s okay if you do not get enough time to solve all the questions of the exam. You don’t have to solve all the questions to score good marks, you just need to solve maximum questions correctly to score good marks.
Best of luck for your exam!
